Baseball Recap: Nevada Union Wins Going Away Against South Tahoe

Nevada Union had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 12-run drubbing they dealt South Tahoe on Tuesday. The Nevada Union Miners put the hurt on the South Tahoe Vikings with a sharp 12-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Miners in their matchups with the Vikings: they've now won three in a row.

Carter Van Matre looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched.

At the plate, Xavier Deniz was incredible, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season. Jack Bryan was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Nevada Union was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. The last time their batting average was this high was back in March of 2024.

Nevada Union's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-1-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for South Tahoe, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Nevada Union will take on River Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. This will be River Valley's first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for South Tahoe, they will challenge Elko at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday.
