Baseball Recap: Garces Memorial's Luck Changes for the Better on Monday

Garces Memorial's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. Everything went their way against the Garfield Bulldogs as they made off with a 13-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Rams, who have now won six contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

D'Angelo Flynn made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Garces Memorial is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 5-8 otherwise. Flynn was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Garces Memorial let Gavin Williams and AP Antingiovanni run wild. Williams went 1-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Antingiovanni scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. Williams has become a key player for Garces Memorial: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 5-7 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Dylan Bell, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one triple.

With the victory, Garces Memorial broke their seven-game losing streak and moved their record to 8-8. As for Garfield, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-7 record this season.

Garces Memorial will take on Templeton in a tournament on Tuesday. As for Garfield, they will be taking part in a tournament against Atascadero at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday.
