Recap: Coconino Panthers vs. Flagstaff Eagles
After flying high against the Mohave Thunderbirds last Monday, the Coconino Panthers came back down to earth. Coconino fell 58-49 to Flagstaff on Tuesday. Coconino was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Flagstaff apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Several Panthers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Oryon Huayhualla, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Minter, who scored nine points.
Coconino's loss dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Flagstaff, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-11.
Coconino will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Mingus at 7:00 p.m. on January 18th. Mingus is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home. Flagstaff will take on Lee Williams at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Arizona (Lee Williams is ranked 162nd, while Flagstaff is ranked 139th).
