Volleyball Recap: Del Norte Takes a Loss

Del Norte was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 3-1 to the Torrey Pines Falcons. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Falcons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-1 back in March.

Del Norte started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 21-25, 25-23, 25-18, 25-21.

Will Bartelt paced Del Norte's offense, picking up 17 kills. Bartelt got some help from John Lee and his 17 assists. Bartelt was also solid from the service line: he led the team with three aces.

Del Norte's defeat dropped their record down to 18-15. As for Torrey Pines, their win bumped their record up to 22-6.

Looking ahead, Del Norte will challenge Carlsbad at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Lancers will roll in looking for their 15th straight victory, something the Nighthawks surely won't give up without a fight. As for Torrey Pines, they will square off against La Costa Canyon at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
