Softball Recap: Wayne County Comes Up Short

After flying high against Laurel last Tuesday, Wayne County came back down to earth. Wayne County fell just short of the Clarkdale Bulldogs by a score of 5-3 on Friday. If the War Eagles were looking for revenge after losing 6-2 to the Bulldogs when the teams met back in February of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Jaslyn Gandy was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.

Wayne County's loss dropped their record down to 5-12-1. As for Clarkdale, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-9.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wayne County will head out to square off against Meridian at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Clarkdale, they will take on Newton at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
