Volleyball Game Preview: Franklin Academy Panthers vs. Sagemont Prep Lions

The Franklin Academy Panthers will face off against the Sagemont Prep Lions at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Franklin Academy is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.

Franklin Academy proved they can win big on Monday (they won by three) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past Don Soffer Aventura 3-2.

Franklin Academy was staring down a 2-1 deficit headed into the fourth set, but they rallied to take the next two for the win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 21-25, 11-25, 25-11, 17-15.

Mariangel Gonzalez had an outrageously good game as she had 20 digs and 12 assists. Those 20 digs gave her a new career-high. Sofia Hernandez was another key player, getting 53 digs and three aces.

Franklin Academy was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 12 aces. They are a perfect 10-0 when they serve at least ten aces.

Meanwhile, Sagemont Prep lost 3-0 to Cypress Bay on Thursday. The Lions have struggled against the Lightning recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

While Sagemont Prep was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the first set. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 25-12, 25-15.

Franklin Academy's victory bumped their record up to 11-3. As for Sagemont Prep, their loss dropped their record down to 8-5.
