Brother Rice added to the longest winning streak in Catholic Central this week by beating Catholic Central, 28-21. This was the team's fifth consecutive win.
University of Detroit Jesuit took down Divine Child 28-7 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Brother Rice's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Alex Malzone threw for 176 and 2 touchdowns and Joshua Flye had 59 yards receiving. On the ground Brian Walker chipped in 165 yards.
Walker was the most successful running back in the league this week. He ran for 165 yards on 21 carries as Albert Fracassa's team defeated the Shamrocks. Teammate Shon Powell added to the ground attack by rushing for 31 yards.
Brother Rice's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Warriors feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Malzone has thrown for 1,045 yards and 8 touchdowns this season, while Corey Lacanaria has 31 catches for 484 yards.
The most important game in the league this week will be the match up between St. Mary Prep and the Warriors. The Eaglets enters the contest ranked 14th in the state, while Brother Rice ranks first.
De La Salle Collegiate made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 271 from 682. The advance stemmed from a 7-0 victory over St. Mary Prep last week.
