Holly White made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one double. Lidija Faubert was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one triple and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Moorpark entered their tilt with Simi Valley on Thursday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Pioneers 5-3.
Kiley Finnerty spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on nine hits.
At the plate, Nathalie Hernandez was excellent, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Sydney Burckhard, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Moorpark's win was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-5. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Royal, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-10 record this season.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. Royal hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.7 home runs per game. However, it's not like Moorpark struggles in that department as they've been averaging 1.2 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
