Softball Recap: Lewis County's Luck Changes for the Better on Thursday

Lewis County had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They blew past the Augusta Panthers 18-3 on Thursday. With that win, the Lions brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Myla Clark made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Clark was even better at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one double. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Sophia Egbert was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Grace Switzer was another key player, going 1-for-2 with four stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Lewis County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .840. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Lewis County's victory bumped their record up to 13-15. As for Augusta, they are on a 16-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-14.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lewis County will head out to square off against Raceland at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Augusta, they will take on Nicholas County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
