Basketball Recap: Southwest Comes Up Short

After flying high against Edison last Friday, Southwest came back down to earth. The game between the Southwest Eagles and the St. Brendan Sabres didn't end well, with the Southwest Eagles falling 69-53. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 540th, while the Sabres are ranked 83rd).

Southwest has traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-12 record this season. As for St. Brendan, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Southwest won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Westwood Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Westwood Christian is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 66.3 points per game this season. As for St. Brendan, they will challenge Coral Gables at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
