Baseball Game Preview: Central Academy Cougars vs. West Stanly Colts

Central Academy is 0-10 against West Stanly since March of 2022 but things could change on Wednesday. The Cougars will challenge the Colts at 4:30 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Tuesday, Central Academy needed a bit of extra time to put away Anson. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over the Bearcats. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Cougars have posted since April 4th.

Meanwhile, West Stanly got the win against West Brunswick last Tuesday by a conclusive 15-1. Considering the Colts have won ten games by more than eight runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

West Stanly's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-6. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.6 runs over those games. As for Central Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-14 record this season.

Central Academy might still be hurting after the 11-0 defeat they got from West Stanly when the teams last played on April 11th. Can the Cougars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
