Baseball Recap: Friends' Central Takes a Loss

Friends' Central fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Shipley on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of Shipley. Friends' Central hasn't had much luck with Shipley recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Friends' Central saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lucas Abreu, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. Friends' Central is 2-1 when Abreu posts two or more stolen bases, but 4-7 otherwise.

Friends' Central's loss dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Shipley, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season.

Coincidentally, Friends' Central and Shipley will both be playing Central the next time they take the field. Shipley will host Central at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, while Friends' Central will host them at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
