Football Recap: Iraan Piles Up the Points Against Reagan County

A well-balanced attack led Iraan over Reagan County in every quarter on their way to victory on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Braves blew the Owls out of the water with a 68-14 final score. That looming 68-14 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Braves yet this season.

Iraan's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alex Reyes, who rushed for 63 yards and a pair of TDs on only seven carries. Another signal caller making a difference was Prather Schneemann, who threw for 228 yards and one touchdown while completing 71.4% of his passes.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Iraan was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 302 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in November of 2024.

Iraan didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Brayden Martinez and Cristian Buitron. Martinez got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

The win was the third in a row for Iraan, bringing their record up to 4-1. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 47.7 points over those games. As for Reagan County, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. After each having a week off, Iraan and Eldorado will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 7:00 p.m. on October 10. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 949 yards in their previous games. As for Reagan County, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Ozona at 7:00 p.m. on October 10. The Owls will need to watch out since the Lions have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.
