Baseball Game Preview: Picayune Maroon Tide vs. Long Beach Bearcats

For the second straight game, Picayune will face off against Long Beach. The Maroon Tide will be playing in front of their home fans against the Bearcats at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Picayune's offense. They came up short against Long Beach on Tuesday, falling 7-0. The matchup marked the first time this season in which the Maroon Tide were not able to get on the board.

For Long Beach's part, not much got past Will Brady, who gave up just four hits to keep Picayune off the board. Brady also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because the Bearcats are undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 10-12 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Wayne Ulrich, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in February. Dax Arkin was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Long Beach is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a massive bump to their 15-12 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Picayune, their loss dropped their record down to 18-7.
