One of the nation's top high school pitchers relocating.
One of the premier high school pitchers in the country – Jake Cave – is transferring from Hampton Christian (Va.) to Hampton Kecoughtan.
The 6-foot-2, 180-pound left-hander, who already throws up to 93 miles per hour, is ranked as the No. 1 junior prospect in Virginia and No. 17 nationally by pgcrosschecker.com.
As a sophomore, the young fireballer posted a perfect 10-0 record with a 1.23 earned run average while leading his team to the Virginia Division III independent schools state title. In 61 innings, he struck out 109 batters.

During the summer he committed to NCAA champion LSU and helped the North Hurricanes win the World Wood Bat Association Under-16 national championship.
Kecoughtan’s second-year baseball coach, Chad Ochsenfeld, told MaxPreps, “With Jake pitching, we (have a chance) to beat any team. Jake is the real deal. He has the potential to be a first-round draft pick (in 2011). It’s up to him, how hard he wants to work.”
The Warriors, who will have just one senior in the spring, are a young team on the rise. They also will be bolstered by the transfer of sophomore pitcher-shortstop Kippy Holbrooks (6-0, 180) from Hampton Phoebus.
Cave also may decide to play basketball. He averaged 15 points, with a high of 28, last year.
