Baseball Recap: Auburn Takes a Loss

Lincoln hit Auburn with a eight-run fourth inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Trojans came up short against the Railsplitters, falling 15-5. The defeat continues a trend for the Trojans in their meetings with the Railsplitters: they've now lost four in a row.

Peyton Campbell was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. He is becoming a predictor of Auburn's success: when he posts at least three hits the team is 2-1 (and 10-12 when he doesn't). Cash Dvorak also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Auburn now has a losing record of 12-13. As for Lincoln, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-15 record this season.

Auburn does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Lincoln, they will challenge Richwoods at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Knights will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something the Railsplitters surely won't give up without a fight.
