Baseball Recap: Foothill Wins Going Away Against Monte Vista

Foothill never got on the board in their matchup last Wednesday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Monte Vista on Friday. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Mustangs. The Falcons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by seven runs or more this season.

Foothill got a great performance from Charlie Stearns as he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Stearns has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Aiden Tavares and Landon Comerford did most of the damage at the plate: Tavares went a perfect 3-for-3 with three doubles, three RBI, and one run, while Comerford scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was George Schmitt, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Foothill's record is now 7-2. As for Monte Vista, their loss dropped their record down to 2-7.

Coming up, Foothill will square off against Bear Creek at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Monte Vista, they will face off against Granada at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
