Softball Game Preview: Biggersville Lions vs. Hatley Tigers

A feisty cat fight will be fought as Biggersville Lions duke it out with Hatley Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Biggersville is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Falkner with a sharp 18-6 win on Saturday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Lions considering their two-run performance the match before.

Meanwhile, Hatley had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.2 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Friday. They never let Nettleton get on the board and left with a 1-0 victory.

Not much got past Ashlynn Dabbs, who gave up just four hits and racked up six Ks to keep Nettleton off the board. Dabbs has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Hatley saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brileigh Lewis, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Biggersville pushed their record up to 5-8 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Hatley, their win bumped their record up to 12-5.
