Basketball Recap: James River HomeSchool Eagles vs. Cristo Rey Royals
It was a good run, but the James River HomeSchool Eagles unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Monday. They took a 56-41 bruising from Cristo Rey. James River HomeSchool has not had much luck with the Royals recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
James River HomeSchool lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Matthew Thomas, who scored 12 points. Another player making a difference was NiMon Campbell, who scored eight points.
James River HomeSchool's defeat dropped their record down to 10-7. As for Cristo Rey, they pushed their record up to 11-13 with that win, which was their seventh straight at home.
James River HomeSchool will head out on the road to face off against the Warhawks at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Virginia (Spirit HomeSchool is ranked 191st, while the Eagles are ranked 195th). As for Cristo Rey, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against the Eagles at 5:30 p.m. Life Christian Academy has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
