Softball Recap: Porter Spartans vs. Shepherd Pirates
On Monday, the Porter Spartans came up short against the Shepherd Pirates and fell 9-5.
Avery Evans-Pickens made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-4 with one home run. Skyler Westfall also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
The loss was their first at home , dropping their record down to 6-3. As for Shepherd, they pushed their record up to 10-0 with the win, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Looking ahead, Porter will take on Huntsville in a tournament on Thursday. Porter is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season. As for Shepherd, they will be taking part in a tournament against Montgomery at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Montgomery: 3.6, Shepherd: 3.3) so any runs scored will be well earned.
