Softball Recap: Fenwick Wins Going Away Against Taft

Fenwick won the last time they faced Taft and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Friars were the clear victors by a 14-3 margin over the Eagles. The result was nothing new for the Friars, who have now won eight games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Jordan Rossi looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Alex Purta was incredible, firing off two home runs, six RBI, and one double while going 3-for-4. That's the most home runs she has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Hailey Smith-Young, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles.

The win made it two in a row for Fenwick and bumps their season record up to 14-9. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 runs in those games. As for Taft, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 17-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fenwick will square off against Loyola Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Friars' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Ramblers have averaged an impressive 8 runs per game this season. As for Taft, they will challenge Libertyville at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday.
