Softball Recap: Gila Ridge Has No Trouble Against Valley Vista

Gila Ridge never let their opponents score on Monday. Everything went their way against the Valley Vista Monsoon as the Gila Ridge Hawks made off with an 18-0 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Hawks.

Violet Silva made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Those zero hits allowed gave her a new career-low. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Isabella Beltran was incredible, scoring four runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Aimee Cisneros was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Gila Ridge always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .645. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Valley Vista only posted an OBP of .278.

Gila Ridge's win bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Valley Vista, their defeat was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-4.

Coming up, Gila Ridge will face off against Paradise Valley at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. As for Valley Vista, they will square off against Desert Vista at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Valley Vista has given up an average of 9.5 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
