The Peoria Christian Chargers will head out on the road to face off against the ROWVA/Williamsfield Cougars at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Peoria Christian had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Midwest Central on Tuesday. The Chargers put the hurt on the Raiders with a sharp 12-2 win. Considering the Chargers' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Gavin Walder, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Meanwhile, ROWVA/Williamsfield entered their tilt with Biggsville West Central on Tuesday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They were the clear victors by a 14-3 margin over the Heat. The Cougars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matchups by six runs or more this season.
Brody Lytle made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out 12 batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 4-for-5 with two doubles and two RBI. Those four hits gave him a new career-high.

Peoria Christian is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for ROWVA/Williamsfield, their record is now 14-12.
Peoria Christian came out on top in a nail-biter against ROWVA/Williamsfield when the teams last played back in May of 2023, sneaking past 13-12. Do the Chargers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cougars turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
