Basketball Recap: Burke Falls Despite Big Games from Emmie Hausmann and Paige Bull

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Burke can now relate to. They lost 61-37 to the Lyman Raiders on Thursday. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Dakota basketball rankings (they are ranked 65th, while the Raiders are ranked 11th).

Burke's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Paige Bull, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and ten rebounds, and Emmie Hausmann, who posted 12 points along with six boards and five assists. That's the most boards Hausmann has posted since back in December of 2024.

Burke's defeat dropped their record down to 14-9. As for Lyman, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-3 record this season.

Burke does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Lyman, they will square off against Lemmon at 6:00 p.m. on March 6th. Lemmon will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Lyman surely won't give up without a fight.
