Baseball Game Preview: Hobbs Eagles vs. Midland Texas Leadership Charter Academy Eagles

Hobbs will challenge Midland Texas Leadership Charter Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hobbs has given up an average of 9.5 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Hobbs is headed into Tuesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Thursday. They took a 16-13 hit to the loss column at the hands of Artesia. That's two games in a row now that the Eagles have lost by exactly three runs.

Jayden Hernandez made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 4-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Trystan Montez, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI and one run.

Meanwhile, Midland Texas Leadership Charter Academy didn't have quite enough to beat Trinity on Tuesday and fell 8-7.

Troy Caylor put in work no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Caylor wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Cason Henderson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Henderson has become a key player for Midland Texas Leadership Charter Academy: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 3-5 otherwise. Another was Diego Raygoza, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Hobbs' defeat dropped their record down to 4-14. As for Midland Texas Leadership Charter Academy, they now have a losing record of 5-6.
