Soccer Game Preview: Peabody vs. Gibson County

The Peabody Golden Tide will venture away from home to face off against the Gibson County Pioneers at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Peabody's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for three straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Peabody is likely headed into the contest with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Jackson Central Merry two weeks ago. The Golden Tide came up short against the Cougars, falling 4-1.

Meanwhile, Gibson County has been on a difficult stretch since their win on March 23. They and Huntingdon finished up their match with a 1-1 draw on Friday.

Gibson County's goal came courtesy of Iziah Rice, who's now up to two this season.

With that draw, Gibson County's record moves to 3-5-3. As for Peabody, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3-1.

Peabody came out on top in a nail-biter against Gibson County in their previous matchup back in May of 2025, sneaking past 1-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Golden Tide since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
