Baseball Recap: Danvers Gets the Win

Danvers took a eight-run loss the last time they faced off against Marblehead, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Falcons skirted past the Magicians 6-5. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last three times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Beckett Wodarski was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He is becoming a predictor of Danvers' success: when he allows at most three hits the team is 3-1 (and 4-6 when he doesn't). Wodarski was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Wodarski wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Dylan Weeks, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI. Those two RBI gave Weeks a new career-high.

The victory got Danvers back to even at 7-7. As for Marblehead, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Danvers will head out to challenge Masconomet Regional at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Marblehead, they will venture away from home to face off against Beverly at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
