Basketball Recap: Saltillo Comes Up Short

Saltillo was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They fell 58-47 to the New Albany Bulldogs. If the Tigers were looking for revenge after losing 45-32 to the Bulldogs when the teams met back in November of 2022, then they'll just have to keep looking.

New Albany found their leader in freshman Dre'Anna Jones, who shot 56% from the field on her way to 18 points and five steals. Jones also brought in his first three-point shooting accuracy of the season. Lynleigh Tatum was another key player, putting up 18 points.

Saltillo's defeat dropped their record down to 4-10. As for New Albany, they moved to 8-7 with that victory, which also ended their five-game losing streak.

Looking ahead, Saltillo and Pontotoc will face off at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday without much rest, having both just played. As for New Albany, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Hickory Flat at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
