Basketball Recap: Centerville Takes a Loss

If Centerville was riding high fresh off their 61-28 takedown of Anderson Prep Academy last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Centerville Bulldogs came up short against the Winchester Community Golden Falcons on Thursday, falling 66-40. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bulldogs of the 45-22 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Centerville lost, don't look at Taelynn Swartz. Despite the final result, she went 8 for 18 en route to 16 points along with eight boards and four steals. That was a full 40% of Centerville's points, marking the third time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points.

Centerville's loss dropped their record down to 7-11. As for Winchester Community, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 7-8.

Centerville has already played their next matchup, a 73-34 win against Wes-Del on the 18th. As for Winchester Community, they will square off against Randolph Southern at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd.
