Softball Recap: Calaveras Finds Home Field Redemption Against Bret Harte

There's no place like home for Calaveras, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. Everything went their way against the Bret Harte Bullfrogs on Thursday as they made off with a 9-3 win. Considering the Red Hawks have won five contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Kamryn Thornburg was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one double.

In other batting news, Kendra Baechler was incredible, going 1-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Alexa Ortega, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Calaveras kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bret Harte only managed four hits.

Calaveras' record now sits at 8-5. As for Bret Harte, they now have a losing record of 6-7.

Looking ahead, Calaveras will face off against Summerville at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bears will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last. As for Bret Harte, they will take on Linden at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Lions will roll in looking for their 11th straight victory, something the Bullfrogs surely won't give up without a fight.
