Baseball Recap: South Mecklenburg Gets the Win

South Mecklenburg proved they can win big last Friday (they won by ten) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Ardrey Kell Knights 6-4. The Sabres haven't had any issues with the Knights recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

South Mecklenburg got a great performance from Connor Longley as he struck out seven batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits (and not a single walk). Those seven strikeouts gave Longley a new career-high.

At the plate, South Mecklenburg's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Gabe Luke-Judy, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2. Those two runs gave Luke-Judy a new career-high.

South Mecklenburg's record is now 11-6. As for Ardrey Kell, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-6.

South Mecklenburg will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Knights: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
