Softball Game Preview: Camelback Spartans vs. West Point Dragons

The Camelback Spartans are taking a road trip to challenge the West Point Dragons at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Camelback has given up an average of 19.2 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

Camelback fell victim to Dobson and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They came up short against the Mustangs, falling 31-0. Having soared to a lofty 17 runs in the game before, the Spartans' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Meanwhile, West Point lost 15-1 to Heritage Academy on Saturday. The match marked the Dragons' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

West Point saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gabby Rodiguez, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.

This is the second loss in a row for West Point and nudges their season record down to 4-6. As for Camelback, they dropped their record down to 1-5 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

Camelback might still be hurting after the 12-1 loss they got from West Point when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can Camelback avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
