Football Recap: Wheaton-Warrenville South Takes a Loss

After flying high against St. Charles East last Friday, Wheaton-Warrenville South came back down to earth. The Tigers came up short against the Geneva Vikings on Friday, falling 28-7. The defeat continues a trend for the Tigers in their meetings with the Vikings: they've now lost five in a row.

Justin Miller threw for 139 yards on 13 of 24 attempts. Owen Yorke was his top target, picking up 37 receiving yards.

Geneva got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ben Peterson out in front who threw for 229 yards and three touchdowns on only 18 passes, and also rushed for 44 yards. Bennett Konkey was Peterson's top target, picking up 124 receiving yards and one TD.

Wheaton-Warrenville South's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Geneva, their win was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-2.

Wheaton-Warrenville South didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 35-28 victory against Glenbard North on the 26th. As for Geneva, they have also already played their next contest, a 35-17 win against Lake Park on the 26th.
