Basketball Recap: Apex Piles Up the Points Against Garner + How To Watch

Apex hadn't beaten Garner on the road since February 9, 2018 but that history sure didn't bother them on Tuesday. The Cougars claimed a resounding 62-13 win over the Trojans. With that victory, the Cougars brought their scoring average up to 51.5 points per game.

Apex found their leader in sophomore Elizabeth Austin, who shot 57% from the field to rack up 16 points along with five boards and four steals. Austin is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last five games she's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella DeGrow, who posted seven points in addition to 12 rebounds and three steals.

Apex was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in January.

The win (which was Apex's third in a row) raised their record to 3-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 27.0 points on average over those games. As for Garner, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Apex will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Cary at 6:30 p.m. on December 5. As for Garner, they will challenge Heritage at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
