Softball Recap: Bloomfield Gets the Win

Bloomfield hadn't done well against Linton-Stockton recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Cardinals had just enough and edged out the Miners 5-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Cardinals have posted since April 25, 2024.

Lila Koontz was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Koontz wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Madilyn Feiteira, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Those RBI marked the first that Feiteira brought in this season.

Bloomfield's record now sits at 3-4. As for Linton-Stockton, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-2.

Bloomfield wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 9-4 victory against North Daviess on the 16th. As for Linton-Stockton, they will host Owen Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Miners' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Patriots have averaged an impressive 7.8 runs per game this season.
