Baseball Game Preview: Ames Little Cyclones vs. Marshalltown Bobcats

Ames is 8-2 against Marshalltown since May of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Little Cyclones will be playing at home against the Bobcats at 5:00 p.m. Marshalltown took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Ames, who comes in off a win.

Ames is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Mason City with a sharp 16-6 victory on Thursday. The win continues a trend for the Little Cyclones in their matchups with the Mohawks: they've now won eight in a row.

Meanwhile, Marshalltown lost 17-1 to Grundy Center on Friday. The match marked the Bobcats' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

This is the second loss in a row for Marshalltown and nudges their season record down to 3-2. As for Ames, their victory bumped their record up to 3-7.

Ames took their win against Marshalltown in their previous meeting back in June of 2024 by a conclusive 17-1 score. Will the Little Cyclones repeat their success, or do the Bobcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
