Milton and Mount Carmel are an even 3-3 against one another since April of 2021, but likely not for long. The Black Panthers will be playing at home against the RED TORNADOES at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Milton has struggled recently with five defeats in a row, while Mount Carmel will arrive with four straight wins.

Milton came up short against Danville on Wednesday, falling 20-1.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mount Carmel). Everything went their way against Midd-West on Monday as they made off with a 20-12 victory. The game was the first time the RED TORNADOES have beaten the Mustangs on their field since April 16, 2015.

Noah Shimko looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Mount Carmel is undefeated when Shimko allows one or fewer earned runs, but 1-2 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Gabe Yuskoski, who fired off two home runs, four runs, and two stolen bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Those two home runs gave him a new career-high. Lukas Carpenter was another key player, scoring four runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Mount Carmel always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .596. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Midd-West only posted an OBP of .429.

Mount Carmel pushed their record up to 5-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Milton, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5.

Milton skirted past Mount Carmel 7-6 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Do the Black Panthers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the RED TORNADOES turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
