Basketball Recap: North Fort Myers Takes a Loss

If North Fort Myers was feeling good fresh off their 46-17 takedown of Island Coast last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The North Fort Myers Red Knights took a 43-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of the North Port Bobcats.

When it comes to explaining why North Fort Myers lost on Thursday, don't look at Kelley Conley. Despite the final result, she posted 11 points and five boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Bianca Iten, who had four points in addition to six rebounds and five steals.

Even though they lost, North Fort Myers smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 35 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Amandah Marcelus was the offensive standout of the game as she went 6 for 9 en route to 17 points. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Gisele Novielli, who put up seven points.
