Basketball Game Preview: Chula Vista Spartans vs. Southwest EC Eagles

The Chula Vista Spartans are taking a road trip to challenge the Southwest EC Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Chula Vista is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Escondido just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Friday. They came up short against the Cougars, falling 66-44. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Spartans have suffered since February 17, 2024.

Meanwhile, Southwest EC had to endure an eight-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They took their game on Saturday with ease, bagging a 63-35 win over Logan Memorial Education Campus.

Southwest EC's victory bumped their record up to 2-9. As for Chula Vista, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-5.

Chula Vista was able to grind out a solid win over Southwest EC in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, winning 64-54. The rematch might be a little tougher for Chula Vista since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
