Volleyball Recap: Moapa Valley Find Success

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Boulder City, Moapa Valley was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They won by a set and slipped past the Mater Academy East Las Vegas Knights 3-2. The Pirates haven't had any issues with the Knights recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Moapa Valley was staring down a 2-1 deficit headed into the fourth set, but they rallied to take the next two for the win. The final score came out to 23-25, 25-16, 20-25, 25-23, 15-13.

Among those leading the charge was Spencer Stolworthy, who had 36 assists and seven digs. That's the most digs he has posted since back in March.

Several Knights players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Malcolm Lawrence, who had 15 digs, six aces, and three blocks. Lawrence is on a roll when it comes to digs, as he's now had ten or more in each of the last four games he's played. Prince Lupac was another key player, getting 15 kills, 12 digs, and two aces.

Moapa Valley now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Mater Academy East Las Vegas, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season.

Moapa Valley has already played their next matchup, a 2-0 loss against Boulder City on the 18th. As for Mater Academy East Las Vegas, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Virgin Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
