Preview: Eastern Randolph Wildcats vs. Uwharrie Charter Eagles
The Eastern Randolph Wildcats will head out on the road to take on the Uwharrie Charter Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Uwharrie Charter took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Eastern Randolph, who comes in off a win.
Eastern Randolph can finally bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Wednesday. They were the clear victor by a 52-27 margin over Graham. The win was just what Eastern Randolph needed coming off of a 59-23 defeat in their prior match.
Meanwhile, Uwharrie Charter unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They received a tough blow as they fell 64-46 to Randleman. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Uwharrie Charter in their matchups with Randleman: they've now lost eight in a row.
Despite the defeat, Uwharrie Charter saw an underclassman step up: Nevaeh Staples dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. Kayla Brown was another key contributor, scoring five points.
Even though they lost, Uwharrie Charter smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Randleman only pulled down five offensive rebounds.
Eastern Randolph's win ended a eight-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-17. As for Uwharrie Charter, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-8.
Eastern Randolph came up short against Uwharrie Charter when the teams last played back in January, falling 46-42. Can Eastern Randolph avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
