Football Recap: Ardin Jeanty Leads King's Academy's Defense on Friday

Benjamin came into Friday's game looking for another win against King's Academy, but Fletcher Hodges wouldn't allow it. The Lions pulled ahead with a 13-12 photo finish over the Buccaneers on Friday thanks in part to Hodges, who rushed for 154 yards and two TDs on only 13 carries. His longest rush was for an incredible 78 yards.

One reason for the win was King's Academy's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. Ardin Jeanty was especially locked on to Benjamin's QB and sacked him twice.

King's Academy is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 13.5 points on average over those games. As for Benjamin, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-5.

Looking ahead, King's Academy will be playing in front of their home fans against Glades Central at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Lions' defense better be ready for this one: the Raiders have averaged an impressive 32.8 points per game this season. As for Benjamin, they will venture away from home to take on John Carroll Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Rams' defense has only allowed 14.3 points per game this season, so the Buccaneers' offense will have their work cut out for them.
