Preview: Sparta Academy Warriors vs. Hooper Academy Colts
Sparta Academy has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the Hooper Academy Colts at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Sparta Academy's defense has only allowed 27.2 points per game this season, so Hooper Academy's offense will have their work cut out for Hooper Academy.
Last Monday, Sparta Academy earned a 41-32 victory over Monroe Academy. Despite the victory, that was the fewest points Sparta Academy has scored all season.
Sparta Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jamie Ellissa Deason, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and six steals. Another player making a difference was Kaitlyn Johnson, who scored ten points along with nine rebounds and seven steals.
Meanwhile, Hooper Academy had to suffer through a rough 69-38 loss at the hands of Glenwood.
Sparta Academy pushed their record up to 11-0 with that victory, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.6 points per game. As for Hooper Academy, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 0-2.
Everything went Sparta Academy's way against Hooper Academy when the teams last played back in February of 2022 as Sparta Academy made off with a 54-29 victory. Will Sparta Academy repeat their success, or does Hooper Academy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
