Kingsway has gone 9-1 against Gloucester County Tech recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Dragons will be playing in front of their home fans against Gloucester County Tech at 4:00 p.m. Kingsway will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
Kingsway's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They walked away with a 4-0 victory over Haddonfield.
The result came thanks to Tyler Rodgers's shutout, as he gave up just two hits and racked up 11 Ks.
On the hitting side, Kingsway let Brayden Thorp and Ashton Ford run wild. Thorp got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI, while Ford went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. AJ Ward was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one RBI.
Kingsway was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .381. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .310 or higher in five consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, it may have taken ten innings to finish the job, but Gloucester County Tech ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They came out on top against Buena by a score of 6-1.
Gloucester County Tech also got a great performance from Zack Hahn as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out ten over six innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Hahn has posted since back in April.
At the plate, Reed Murphy was excellent, going 1-for-6 with one home run and three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Vincent Rosas, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two RBI and one run.
Kingsway's win bumped their record up to 16-3. As for Gloucester County Tech, their victory bumped their record up to 14-8-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Kingsway has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Gloucester County Tech struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 9.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Everything went Kingsway's way against Gloucester County Tech when the teams last played back in March, as Kingsway made off with a 6-0 win. Will the Dragons repeat their success, or do Gloucester County Tech have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
