Bellefonte has gone a perfect 4-0 against Greater Johnstown recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Raiders will be playing in front of their home fans against the Trojans at 4:30 p.m. Greater Johnstown took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Bellefonte, who comes in off a win.
Bellefonte's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. Everything went their way against St. Marys as they made off with an 8-0 victory. The Raiders haven't had any issues with the Flying Dutch recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Peyton Vancas
Peyton Vancas and Zach Lehman made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Vancas tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Lehman didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Vancas also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Bellefonte is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 0-3 otherwise. At bat, Vancas scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4, while Lehman scored a run while going 2-for-3. Vancas also hit a triple, marking his first of the season.
In other batting news, Parker Capparelle was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Oliver Thornburg was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.
Bellefonte kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as St. Marys only managed four hits.
Meanwhile, Greater Johnstown was not able to break out of their rough patch last Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 14-4 to Westmont Hilltop.
Greater Johnstown saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brock Kobal, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
Bellefonte's victory bumped their record up to 2-4. As for Greater Johnstown, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5.
Greater Johnstown's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Bellefonte has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.8 hits per game. It's a different story for Greater Johnstown, though, as they've been averaging 9.2 hits. Given Bellefonte's sizable advantage in that area, the Trojans will need to find a way to close that gap.
