Kingman had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 victory over the Tonopah Valley Phoenix. That's more bragging rights for the Bulldogs, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Codey Padilla made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. Padilla was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.

In other batting news, Isaiah Houston was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Garrick Hallman, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
