Baseball Game Preview: Weslaco East Wildcats vs. Lopez Lobos

The Weslaco East Wildcats will host the Lopez Lobos at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Lopez will be up against a hot Weslaco East squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. Weslaco East never let Edcouch-Elsa get on the board and left with an 11-0 victory on Thursday.

Antonio Solis was a standout: he scored a run while going 1-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three). Another player making a difference was Jayden Del Villar, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Lopez waltzed into their game on Thursday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They were the clear victors by a 12-0 margin over the Vikings.

Lopez pushed their record up to 11-2 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Weslaco East, their win bumped their record up to 9-4.

Weslaco East took their victory against Lopez in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 7-1. Will Weslaco East repeat their success, or does Lopez has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
