Preview: Lexington Yellowjackets vs. East Davidson Golden Eagles
Lexington is 8-2 against East Davidson since December of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Lexington Yellowjackets will be home for the holidays to greet the East Davidson Golden Eagles at 7:30 p.m.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 87-45, which was the final score in Lexington's tilt against Walkertown on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Lexington can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 471st, while Walkertown is ranked 76th).
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Jaylen Henderson, who scored 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Valliance Luketa, who scored ten points.
Meanwhile, East Davidson came tearing into Wednesday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 2 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against Southwestern Randolph by a score of 57-44.
Lexington's loss was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-6. As for East Davidson, their victory bumped their record up to 7-2.
Lexington couldn't quite finish off East Davidson in their previous matchup back in January and fell 59-56. Can Lexington avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
