Basketball Recap: Starmount Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Corey Armstrong and Ryley Rodriguez

Starmount was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They received a blow as they fell 76-57 to the Mount Airy Granite Bears. If the Rams were looking for revenge after losing 60-40 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Ryley Rodriguez and Corey Armstrong certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Rodriguez went 8 of 16 en route to 23 points and eight rebounds, while Armstrong dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. The dominant performance gave Armstrong a new career-high in points.

Bryson Taylor was nothing short of spectacular for Mount Airy: he went 10 of 14 on his way to 21 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Taeshon Martin, who posted five points along with eight assists and five boards.

Starmount's loss dropped their record down to 1-11. As for Mount Airy, their win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 5-5.

Starmount didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 76-34 defeat against Elkin on the 9th. As for Mount Airy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 66-49 loss against East Surry on the 8th.
