Baseball Game Preview: Dirigo Cougars vs. Winthrop Ramblers

Dirigo is 2-7 against Winthrop since May of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Cougars will be playing at home against the Ramblers at 4:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

On Saturday, Dirigo didn't have quite enough to beat Gray-New Gloucester and fell 5-4.

Dirigo saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Trevor Crosby, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. Crosby is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played.

Meanwhile, Winthrop didn't have quite enough to beat Old Orchard Beach on Friday and fell 7-6.

Winthrop's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Dirigo, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-6.

Dirigo was able to grind out a solid win over Winthrop in their previous meeting back in June of 2025, winning 6-3. Will the Cougars repeat their success, or do the Ramblers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
